If you think Longbranch was good…you really need to stop by the Village Hide-A-Way in Vicksburg. From the outside just seems like a local small town bar/saloon…but they have the best food in Vicksburg…and the best staff and drinks in Kalamazoo County!! The perch fish special is the best you’ll get around!! It’s such a wonderful group of people!! You should definetly check it out!!

A new restaurant LUCA | Ristorante Italiano has opened it’s doors a week ago in Plainwell. It evolved from the 747 neighborhood Bistro and is operated under direction of Executive Chef Luca Carena. The owners are the same. LUCA is the only truely Authentic Italian restaurant in Southwestern Michigan, uses seasonal Local Michigan produce and highest quality imported ingredients from Italy. You should check it out. The food is really worth it.

Hi David,

Thanks for stopping by kalamazoo-restaurants.com recently. To answer your question about a good gyro, my favorite one in town is the Coney Island at West Main and Drake. It is not great, but it is pretty darn good and they have a very good tzatziki sauce.

The gyro’s at D’nicio’s was average. I’ve never been to Pop’s, I’ll have to try it. Thanks for stopping by!

I find your reviews spot on. I recently moved here from Scottsdale/Phoenix and been searching for unique places to eat. I have already covered most of the places listed. Can you please help me a find a good Gyro, Zooroona is good but not great, so far Pop’s is at the top of my list (big and messy). Thanks for all the research and please keep them coming.
